RICE

Founded in 1998 by Charlotte Guéniau, RICE is a Danish homewares and accessories brand known for colorful melamine, handmade baskets, and a distinctively “funky” aesthetic. Their mission is to add “everyday magic” to the mundane acts of washing, cleaning, and eating.

1. The Original RICE Quality

Not all melamine is created equal. RICE melamine is famous for its high content of melamine powder, ensuring a sturdy, glossy finish that mimics ceramic.

2. Ethical Production (SA8000)

RICE is a pioneer in ethical sourcing for plastics. They were the first Scandinavian company to be certified with the SA8000 standard.

3. Design: "Funky & Happy"

RICE designs are instantly recognizable by their vibrant colors and hand-drawn prints (often featuring flowers, circus themes, or quirky animals). They embrace the Danish concept of *Hygge*, but with a loud, joyful twist.

4. Safety Assurance

RICE tests every shipment with external laboratories (like Eurofins) to ensure they meet EU and Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (DVFA) standards for food safety, specifically testing for formaldehyde and phthalates.
