====== CHEMEX ======

Invented in 1941 by the eccentric German chemist Dr. Peter Schlumbohm, the **CHEMEX** Coffeemaker is an icon of American design. It is one of the few coffee makers to be part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.

===== 1. Laboratory-Grade Purity =====
Schlumbohm applied his scientific knowledge to the kitchen. The Chemex is made from **non-porous Borosilicate glass**, which ensures that the vessel does not absorb odors or chemical residues.
  * **The Result**: A pure coffee flavor. Unlike plastic or metal brewers, the glass adds absolutely no taste to the brew.

The hourglass shape is actually a modified Erlenmeyer flask combined with a glass funnel.
